Honored to have work from Wandering In Place - Rabun, GA included in the 36th Annual National Juried Fine Art Competition Exhibition "A Sense of Place," at Gertrude Herbert Institute in Augusta, Georgia and curated by Michael Rooks of the High Museum in Atlanta. The exhibition will be on view from September 9th until October 14th.

The work being shown is a 32"x40" fine art pigment print of 'Untitled - Clearing' from the in-progress series Rabun, GA.

Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art

Founded in 1937 and housed in the historic Nicholas Ware mansion (c.1818), the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art (GHIA) is Augusta's only independent nonprofit visual arts school and gallery. The Institute serves as a showcase for local, regional, and national artists, offering rotating exhibitions of outstanding contemporary artwork year-round. In addition, professionally taught studio art classes in a wide variety of media are provided to students of all ages and experience levels.

Juror: Michael Rooks

In 2010, Michael Rooks joined the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA as the Wieland Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. Prior to the High, Rooks served as the Chief Curator and Director of Exhibitions and Artist Relations at Haunch of Venison, a contemporary art gallery in New York. Rooks has also held curator positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Contemporary Museum Honolulu, and at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. He received both a Master of Arts degree in modern art history, theory and criticism (1995) and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (1988) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
