Light Work is pleased to present New Voices: Recent Acquisitions from the Light Work Collection. New Voices brings together photographs by former Light Work Artists-in-Residence. Selected from over 4,000 photographs donated to the Light Work Collection by former Artists-in-Residence, the exhibition highlights Jennifer Garza-Cuen, Takahiro Kaneyama, Sara Macel, John Mann, Zanele Muholi, Flurina Rothenberger, Hrvoje Slovenc, Pacifico Silano, Maija Tammi, and Mila Teshaieva.
The curated works of New Voices explore a wide variety of approaches to the medium, both conceptually and technically. The exhibition will be on view in the Hallway Gallery at Light Work from November 1 – December 14, 2017, with an opening reception, Thursday, November 30, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Light Work’s collection is an extensive and diverse archive for the mapping of trends and developments in contemporary photography. This noteworthy collection includes all genres of expression found in contemporary photography, including documentary, abstract, experimental, and conceptual work. The collection also serves as an important document of Light Work’s history of support for emerging artists and their creative process.
